Frequently asked
What does third-party liability actually pay for?+
It pays other people, not you. If you are at fault in a road accident, it can cover injury or damage to another driver, their passengers, their vehicle or their property, up to the limit on the policy. Damage to your own car is not included — that is what a full CASCO policy is for, and you can request one separately.
Is this cover required by law in Georgia?+
Not for a Georgia-registered vehicle: liability cover is voluntary here, which is why drivers buy it for the size of the bill they could face rather than to satisfy a rule. It is compulsory for a vehicle on foreign plates, and that is a different product with its own page.
Which liability limit should I choose?+
The limit is the most the policy will pay toward the people you injure or the property you damage; anything above it comes out of your own pocket. A modern car is easily worth more than a low limit, so the choice is really how much of that gap you want to carry yourself. Choosing "any limit" simply means offers are not filtered by it.
How is this different from full coverage?+
Full coverage (CASCO) can pay for damage to your own car — collision, theft, hail, vandalism — and usually costs more because of it. Third-party liability covers only what you owe other people. Many full-coverage policies include a liability element too, so if you want both, start from the car insurance page instead.
