Insurance for a Foreign-Registered Vehicle

Cover for a foreign-plated vehicle in Georgia is required by law for the whole time the vehicle stays in the country. Tell us the vehicle and the period you need, and providers will send you their offers once our team releases them.

Your vehicle and the period you need

The vehicle category and the period are what set the terms. Cover must run for as long as the vehicle stays in Georgia.

Frequently asked

Do I really need this if I am only driving through Georgia?+

Yes. Georgian law requires civil-liability cover for a motor vehicle registered in another country for the entire period it stays in Georgia, whether you are here for a weekend or a year. Driving without it is an administrative offence carrying a fine of 100–200 ₾.

Which vehicle category should I choose?+

Pick the one that matches the vehicle on its registration document: passenger car, motorcycle, minibus or bus, truck, trailer, or agricultural and special vehicle. A trailer is insured separately from the vehicle towing it, so a car with a caravan needs two policies.

How long should the cover run for?+

It has to cover your whole stay. The available periods are 15 days, 30 days, 90 days and one year, and the start date should be the day you enter Georgia — cover cannot begin retroactively.

What does the cover actually pay for?+

It pays other people, not you: injury or damage you cause to another road user, their vehicle or their property. Damage to your own vehicle is not included — that is what a CASCO policy is for, and you can request one separately.
